The text face Luba™ includes latin and cyrillic characters with four weights light, regular, medium and bold. In a humanistic sans-serif style Luba was originally designed to introduce cyrillic letters to the ones who use latin letters, e.g. French or English who learn Russian or Bulgarian. The character’s identifying elements were emphasized, bringing the foreign characters with their relaxed expression and clear forms closer to the reader. The type face points out the difference between the two alphabets but keeps their common origin.
In October 2009 Luba™ is awarded with the third price of Granshan-type design contest in the category “cyrillic type faces”. In June 2009 Luba™ was taken into Linotype’s type library. More informationen at Linotype: LinoLetter 2009/05.
